30DBJ: Day 5

Favorite Quote

I used to be sooooo into quotes. Remember AIM away messages and profiles? I had a bajillion quotes on there. Unfortunately, I don't have them anymore :( However, I do still have some from college on my Facebook profile. This one stands out and still rings pretty true today:

"When it comes down to it, I let them think what they want.
If they care enough to bother with what I do, then I'm better than them anyways."

Obviously all of us care what people think about us. We want to have friends, we want people to like us. But if we constantly focus on "everyone else", we lose ourselves. I do what I feel is right, and as long as my close friends and family support me, eff the rest of the world.

30DBJ: Day 4

Favorite Book

I go through reading phases. I'll read a few books really fast, then not read anything for a few months. I really want to be one of those people who reads all the time. Maybe one day.

I do, however, have a favorite author, and her name is Jen Lancaster.

Bitter Is the New Black is her first memoir and legit laugh-out-loud funny. When I read it my husband would get mad at me for laughing while he was trying to sleep. This book really resonated with me, especially because of what I was going through at the time I read it. Definitely pick it up along with the rest of her fabulous memoirs. Oh, and read her blog and follow her on Twitter. I seriously adore this woman.

I feel I should balance this post with a fiction book. I just finished The Help by Kathryn Stockett and I really can't describe how much I loved this book. Needless to say, I didn't want it to end and would recommend it to everyone.

30DBJ: Day 3

Favorite Television Program

This one makes me sad.

I need to find something new to watch religiously, obsess over, and read recaps about. (Because yes, I was one of those creepy people who read Lost recaps and theories. Don't judge.)

Pages

I love blogs that have tabs with "About Me" or "Contact" info. Luckily, you don't have to be a HTML wiz to create these because Blogger has done it for you!

Last night I played around with the "Pages" feature and created a few of my own. Directly below the header you'll find a page for my wedding blog (Burning River Bride), a page where you can contact me directly (aleapbegins {at} gmail {dot} com) and the page I'm most excited about, My Favorite Recipes!

So browse around, drop me a line, and figure out what you're making for dinner tonight!

Have you used Blogger's "Pages" feature or something similar on your blog?

30DBJ: Day 2

Your Favorite Movie

I'll say right here and now that I am NOT a movie person. I like going to the movies every few months, but when it comes to watching a TV show or turning on a movie, 9 times out of 10 I'll pick a show. This creates quite a problem in our house because Josh is the EXACT opposite. However, there are a few movies I will watch every time they're on:

Oh, and "Love Actually." I got lazy searching for images.

Blog Award!

Well, shucks. My first blog award for my new blog. Thanks KJ! "Who is KJ," you ask? Well click on that link and find out for yourself! But be warned...she's awkward.

I think it's funny that my little blog, with less than 5 posts, qualifies as one with substance, but I guess quality over quantity, right?

My task is to sum up my blogging philosophy, motivation and experience in 5 words. It's sort of hard for me to do that because my entire blogging career has been centered around weddings and I think my philosophy/motivation/experience for that is different than for this new blog. Also, shouldn't it be describe philosophy/motivation/experience in 3 words? Doesn't that make more sense, like, one word per thing? I think that makes more sense, so that's what I'm gonna do.

I'm a rebel like that.

Philosophy: Be relatable (Even if it means being an asshole.)
Motivation: Comments (You know it's true.)
Experience: Life-changing (I love this community.)

Ha, I guess it ended up being 5 words anyway!

Now to list 10 blogs with substance (in no particular order, promise!)

1. Claire from A Realistic Wedding
2. Amy from Little Miss Wedding Planner
3. Stacey from Thoughts of the All Consumed Bride (currently doing recaps!)
4. Katie from She likes ruffles, he likes truffles
5. Hannah from Gator Tales
6. Laura from Happy Hour With A Housewife
7. Laura from Lucky in Love
8. Layla from Wish Fulfillment Every Day
9. Kelly from Ordinary in Indiana (had to give it back to her because she's just so full of substance)
10. Morgan from The Handcrafted Life

Whew! This list is in no way exhaustive, by the way. Ladies, thank you for your never-ending inspiration and support. You da best!

30DBJ: Day 1

Your Favorite Song

Honestly, this is not fair for the first question. It's so HARD! Every time a new song comes out I declare it "my FAVORITE song" or tell the people around me "OMG I LOVE THIS SONG!" (Yes, I shout it.)

To determine my favorite song, I went to my iTunes account to see what song I've played the most. So coming in with a whopping 42 plays is....

Somebody To Love, Glee Cast version

To be fair, when I got my new computer I had to re-import all of my music so my previous play counts were lost. But honestly, I do love Somebody To Love (including the Queen version, of course) and will always rock out to it whenever it comes on.
